ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This program supports young people, especially young women, Refugees and PWDs in creating dignified and fulfilling work opportunities within the livestock sector and related enterprises, The pathways to work opportunities within the program include animal fattening, feed and fodder production, Poultry production, value addition including hides and skins and service provision within the livestock sector and related enterprise.
Young people are trained and empowered to be entrepreneurs and provided financing through a challenge fund to start and grow their businesses as producers of livestock, feed and fodder, service provision and value addition. The program also works through county governments' structures to unlock systemic barriers that hinder young people's participation in the livestock sector and related enterprises. The program started in June 2025 and will run until May 2030.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads global efforts to end hunger, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. Established in 1945 and headquartered in Rome, FAO works with governments and partners to enhance food security, support rural livelihoods, and ensure efficient and sustainable use of natural resources. Its work spans agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, and climate resilience, with a strong focus on supporting vulnerable populations worldwide.
WHO QUALIFIES?
The program is open to young women and men (aged 18-35 years), Refugees and PWDS with a passion for success in the livestock sector. Young women are particularly encouraged to apply.
LOCATION
The program operates in these15 Counties of the Arid and Semi- arid Counties mainly Laikipia, Isiolo, Samburu, West-Pokot, Turkana, Wajir, Marsabit, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Makueni, Kitui, Kajiado, Mandera and Garissa.
