ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Young Africa Works Kenya project is focused on helping young people learn the skills they need to find good jobs. Many young people are currently unemployed because they lack the skills that employers are looking for. This project aims to solve that problem by teaching both practical skills and soft skills that are important in the workplace.
It provides training in technical skills, like coding and software development, and soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. These soft skills help participants learn how to work well with others, communicate clearly, and solve problems effectively. The program also offers a learning environment that feels like a real job, making it easier for students to adjust when they start working.
Moringa supports students by providing laptops, which they can take home for self-study, along with health insurance to safeguard their well-being. To reduce financial strain, the program offers lunch and transport assistance, ensuring students can attend classes consistently. Students will learn in a supportive environment through community-building activities and covers transportation for program-related needs, ensuring students have access to all necessary resources.
So far, the project has successfully helped many young people find jobs, with many of them finding work within six months of completing the program. The project offers opportunities to young people, including those from low-income backgrounds, through scholarships and developing new courses in areas like data science and design where jobs are available.
The program began on June 1st, 2019, and will continue until February 2025.
